Meet Caramel, a stray who was struggling to survive on the streets of Greece. When one of his eyes began to bleed, he sought refuge in front of a building, crying out for help. A kind passerby noticed his distress and rushed him to a nearby veterinary hospital, where he was diagnosed with eye herpes and received immediate treatment.
Sadly, Caramel’s other eye had been removed before he arrived at the shelter, but it healed poorly, leading to a serious infection that requires corrective surgery. Additionally, he is losing fur on various parts of his body. Although Caramel has started treatment and is making progress, he still has a long road to recovery ahead.
Currently, he is hospitalized, receiving injections for his skin condition and awaiting eye surgery. Can you assist Caramel and other injured animals in Greece by donating for pet medical care? Your support is crucial as he continues his journey toward healing.
In late 2023, Greater Good Charities connected with local groups in Xanthi, Northern Greece, to provide essential support to over 600 animals living near a municipal rubbish site. Together with the Animal Rescue Site and other community partners, we’ve been able to offer food, specialized medical care, high-quality spay-neuter services, and foster and adoption support for numerous pets.
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, we are committed to helping the pets of Xanthi, ensuring they receive the care they desperately need. Caramel is just one of the many animals we’re dedicated to supporting, but we cannot continue his care without your help. Our goal is to raise $4,000 for Caramel and others like him. Join us in making a difference today!

Adopting from local shelters in Greece was a fulfilling experience. I encourage others to support fundraising efforts for animal shelters!
