There’s an urgent animal welfare crisis unfolding in Greece, where thousands of dogs are in dire need. In late 2023, Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site initiated efforts in Xanthi, Greece, to rescue over 600 sick and starving dogs from a municipal rubbish site. Sadly, the situation is much worse than we initially thought, with the number of homeless dogs in the region reaching into the thousands.
Your support is crucial as we strive to save these innocent lives. Together, we’ve provided essential food, medical care, and spay-neuter services to control the dog population, while also facilitating foster and adoption opportunities. But many more dogs are still waiting for a lifeline, just like Ronti.
Meet Ronti: This young Rottweiler was abandoned at a local dump, left to endure a life of malnutrition and fear. Rescuers found him emaciated and suffering from mange. Thankfully, he is now receiving medication and nutritious meals, but he needs your help to recover fully. The reality for countless dogs like Ronti is heartbreaking; they live in fear and pain, many never knowing the warmth of a loving home.
We need your help to change this. Donate today to support Ronti and all the other dogs fighting for their lives in Greece. We are actively working with local rescues to provide the necessary care and treatment. Every contribution goes directly toward giving these pups a fighting chance.

The work they’re doing is incredible! I attended a pet adoption event near me and learned about how I can help starving dogs in Greece.
